Job overview

An exceptional opportunity for an enthusiastic and energetic Physics specialist to join one of the world's leading British-style overseas schools. This would be a great move into a high-achieving, friendly and happy school community, in a fabulous country with lots going on and an excellent lifestyle on offer. If you are looking for a new post for September, you will enjoy Peponi far more than most of the other schools you could go to!

Kenyan education is generally regarded as excellent. A vibrant independent sector includes about a dozen British-style schools, not as "international schools" that just happen to be there but as an established and inherent part of the educational fabric. The British-style schools are at the forefront of Kenyan education, and Peponi is at the forefront of those schools. As an HMC member school, it enjoys an outstanding reputation and educates over 300 children aged 11 to 18 from a cosmopolitan mix of local and expatriate families.

Our Science Faculty is popular and successful, both in terms of building understanding and enthusiasm and in the academic results it achieves.  Numerous pupils continue their studies beyond A level by moving on to university courses in science and medicine.

We are now seeking an exceptional Physics specialist who is truly enthusiastic about their teaching and can help take things to new highs.  You must be an excellent classroom practitioner and as a specialist teacher you MUST already have good experience of teaching Physics to IGCSE standard. A Level experience will be an added advantage. You would also teach Chemistry or Biology, or both, depending on your experience.

You must be forward thinking and imaginative, with fresh ideas and energy. What we really want is someone who can genuinely excite and inspire our pupils, someone who is passionate about the sciences in general, and someone who will go the extra mile to ignite those same passions in the students and help them go further than they ever dreamed they could. You must be able to support each individual’s growth and development, encouraging them to achieve and be the best they can be.

You do not need to have had experience in the independent sector, but you do need a strongly can-do mindset.

As a boarding and day school, we will also expect you to participate in and contribute to the life of the School as a whole. This will be enjoyable because of the happy, collegiate atmosphere, and we have a wide range of pastoral programmes and extra-curricular activities.

Our staff enjoy excellent working conditions including accommodation, a generous and comprehensive reward package, family benefits, and significant amounts of personal and professional development. There is a great team spirit in our Common Room. If you join us you will achieve great job satisfaction and excellent experience, and you will enjoy a first-class quality of life in a wonderful location. Kenya is a fabulous country.

If you’re excited by the sound of all this, please download the briefing brochure and the application form. We’ll be happy to answer any questions you may have and completed forms should be emailed direct to our Headmaster, Mark Durston, at applicants@peponischool.org

Please apply as soon as possible. Interviews will be arranged online or face to face on dates that are mutually convenient, starting as soon as we receive applications.

Peponi School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. Applicants will be subject to child protection screening, including checks with past employers, the UK Disclosure and Barring Service and/or authorities in other countries.
