Job overview

Introduction

Queen Ethelburga’s is an independent Collegiate of four co-educational schools, all of which were recently graded Excellent by the Independent Schools Inspectorate. Located in North Yorkshire between the towns of York and Harrogate, we offer outstanding facilities and motivated students who join us with a broad range of academic, social and cultural backgrounds. We pride ourselves on being a happy community where students can grow to reach their full potential, both academically and socially. To meet the needs of our students we offer a wide choice of qualifications, a supportive environment and an exciting programme of co–curricular opportunities, which are underpinned by high quality teaching and learning.

We are now seeking to appoint an inspirational teacher of Science to join our highly successful Science Department. The successful candidate will be a confident and dedicated practitioner who is able to teach all three science disciplines at Key Stage 3 – 4. An ability to offer Physics at A Level would be useful but all specialisms are welcomed. We welcome applications from experienced teachers and from NQTs/RQTs.

As a thriving day and boarding Collegiate, we are one of the largest school communities in the country. This provides outstanding opportunities for progression and for staff development. The Collegiate actively promotes the professional development of its staff through induction, CPD and career development opportunities.    Our facilities are enhanced annually to help ensure that we have everything needed to allow our staff and students ‘to be the best they can with the gifts that they have,’ this is known as the Hill Standard.

Closing Date: 9am Friday 26 July 2019

September 2019 start, or October half term

Applications will be assessed on an on-going basis and interviews will be held at our earliest opportunity, so interested teachers are encouraged to apply as soon as possible.

Please note that this is a non-residential position with no on-site accommodation being offered.

Principal: Mr Steven Jandrell BA

This school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff to share this commitment.  You will be required to undertake an enhanced DBS disclosure.
