Your new school
Kingsway Park High School opened in September 2010 in a purpose built, state of the art building with high quality facilities and resources. The school is a forward thinking and reflective learning community which ‘successfully brings together pupils from a wide range of backgrounds, races and cultures’ (Ofsted 2017).
Leadership is strong and effective within the school and there is an established ethos where ‘every pupil is valued’ (Ofsted 2017). The students’ behaviour is good and positive attitudes to learning are evident throughout the school ensuring that staff can focus on delivering excellent teaching and learning, and ensuring students continue to make good progress.

Your new role
The science department is a large, supportive, and ambitious team. It is extremely well-resourced with 9 specialist labs over two floors, a department workroom, and preparation rooms. We are proud of our high-quality facilities and resources; the team is supported effectively by two highly competent science technicians who provide excellent support to our 9 full-time and 2 part-time science teachers. The Head of Science was promoted from deputy curriculum leader into post in April 2020 following the promotion of the previous HoS to the Senior Leadership Team. We invest in staff training and development at Kingsway Park High School and are delighted with the many colleagues who have been successfully appointed to new roles and responsibilities to enhance their careers. The successful candidate will have a full-time teaching load (80% timetable) and a tutor group. They will be supported with high-quality structured induction programme in order to support their professional development needs.
What you’ll need to succeed
Applications are welcome from experienced Science teachers or newly qualified teachers who are wishing to have a new challenge. It is extremely important that all staff members have high expectations of themselves and the students they teach, and share our ethos that every student is valued. We are now a very popular oversubscribed school in central Rochdale with 1350 students in Years 7-11 and 190 staff.
