Description

The British School of Almería is an inclusive all-through school which provides a comprehensive, high-quality education to pupils from the ages of 3 to 18. Recently incorporated into the prestigious International School Partnership group, we are now a well-established centre which offers a British-based education to local and international students in a beautiful coastal area of Andalucia. The school is located on one site and boasts bright, modern facilities. The school has grown steadily over the last few years and we are now entering a new, exciting era as we look forward to expanding our existing student base and increasing our prominence in the local region.

We are currently seeking to appoint a passionate and inspirational teacher of Secondary Science who is able to further increase the profile of this already successful subject. A knowledge of GCSE and A Level Physics would be an advantage.

They will be able to effectively plan and deliver creative and engaging lessons to all age groups from Key Stage 3 to A Level, encouraging a love for Science. He/she would be responsible for the teaching of Science throughout the secondary school and would strive to maintain the high standards already set in this subject, promoting inquisitive, reflective and independent learning and encouraging all pupils to reach their own individual targets. The ability to differentiate appropriately and provide both support and challenge within the lesson is essential.

The confidence to teach Science through an inquiry based approach and in such a way to encourage a true understanding of the subject is essential. He/she should be a strong team player with a practical and flexible approach to problem solving, keen to play a central role in the continuing development and improvement of the Science Department.

At The British School of Almería, we aim to provide our pupils with a wide variety of opportunities which allow them to gain new experiences through which they are able to discover and develop their individual talents and interests and be amazed by their learning successes. As such, we expect all of our staff to be actively involved in all aspects of school life through their participation in extracurricular activities and in our programme of events which are planned throughout the school year. We have a strong commitment to child-centred learning and to addressing the specific needs of each individual pupil so that they can each be guided and encouraged towards achieving their maximum potential. The successful candidate should have experience of teaching across the ability range and recognise the importance of providing effective pastoral care. As a fully accredited British School, we follow an adapted English National Curriculum across our primary and secondary schools.
