Part Time (0.6) - Fixed Term

‘A culture of safeguarding permeates the work of the school. Pupils feel safe and greatly appreciate the consistent care and support provided by school leaders, teachers and other adults’ Ofsted 2016

Tamworth Enterprise College (TEC) based in Staffordshire, is a forward thinking and established community driven school that is within easy commuting distance of Birmingham and Derby. We are proud to be part of Academies Enterprise Trust network of schools and serve the communities within Tamworth.

As a school we have been on a trajectory of improvement over the last 3 years and we are delighted to have secured the best GCSE results in our history in 2016. Our students are at the heart of everything we do, and we secured a ‘good’ judgement from Ofsted in 2016 for personal development, behaviour and welfare.

We are looking to appoint a teaching professional to become our new Teacher of Science. Our Science department at TEC is seen as a ‘stable, strong and innovative’ department and has a mixture of experienced and newly qualified colleagues.

This a fixed term post until at least February 2017 and has arisen to cover unavoidable staff absence.

We can offer:

  • If you are newly qualified you will receive dedicated non-contact time, the support of an experienced mentor and opportunities to observe good practice in our academy and other schools; we want you to make the most of your NQT year!
  • As an experienced teacher you will be able to access professional development to meet your professional needs and continue to develop your practice.
  • If you are an aspiring leader, we will support you in your development. We are committed to identifying potential and talent and growing future leaders!

You will:

  • Be able to teach up to Key Stage 4.
  • Be able to inspire students who will make you feel proud to be a teaching professional.
  • Have a commitment to raising standards and accelerating students’ progress.

In joining TEC you can expect a supportive culture within an Academy with very high aspirations, moving forward at pace. We hold advanced status for Dyslexia and are proud of our inclusive culture where all students are valued.

We actively encourage candidates to visit us, meet the faculty and learn more about the ‘TEC’ family. If you would like to visit or require further information please email Pauline Tonks at ptonks@tamworthenterprisecollege.org

As the sponsor, AET believes that all young people deserve to become world-class learners - to learn, enjoy, succeed and thrive in a first rate educational environment with the best facilities, the best teaching and the most up-to-date resources available to them. In each of our schools, you will benefit from visionary, inspirational and dynamic leadership and be empowered to develop your own skills with access to world-class CPD and Talent Management programmes. You will also be entitled to the following benefits: a health cash plan, vehicle affinity scheme, Cycle2work, childcare vouchers and Westfield rewards.

The date of commencement for this post will be as soon as possible after October half term. Interviews are scheduled to be held as soon as possible after the closing date.

Closing date: Monday 31 October 2016.

We reserve the right to close this vacancy early should we receive an overwhelming response. All candidates are advised to refer to the job description and person specification before making an application.

Our Curriculum

Tamworth Enterprise College is a successful, high-achieving secondary school where everyone is given the opportunity to do their best, whatever their background or ability.

Our inclusive curriculum provides opportunities for success for all our students, at all levels of ability. Extensive links with primary schools help to ease the transition process.

We are proud of our provision for children with special needs. On entry, students attainment levels are studied carefully and used to place students in teaching sets for all subjects except for PE. These sets are reviewed throughout the year and changes are made based on the students' progress, interim assessments and teacher judgements.

Student progress is monitored through informal and formal assessment in each curriculum area, and parents are kept informed through regular effort and progress checks.

The Curriculum is further strengthened by a variety of intervention/support strategies to ensure that the Curriculum is relevant and accessible for all students.
