For September 2018, we are looking to appoint a Science Teacher to join a highly successful faculty.
We are seeking to appoint an outstanding teacher of Physics to join our high performing Science department. The position will be suitable for both a newly qualified and a more experienced teacher.
Avanti Secondary School is one of the top performing schools in the country based on GCSE outcomes. We are in the top 3% of schools for progress in Science (top 1% for disadvantages students). Physics is a mathematically demanding subject, and you would be working with a school that performed 17th from 6323 schools nationally for progress in Maths GCSE. We look to recruit a teacher that can continue to maintain these high standards by reinforcing our expectations to achieve academic excellence.
The successful applicant will be able to deliver all three Sciences up to KS4 and specialise in KS5 Physics. It would also be desirable if the applicant would be willing to assisting the Head of Faculty in running residential trips such as our planned excursion to CERN in 2019.
The successful candidate will not only be passionate about their subject, and have exceptional subject knowledge, but also have a passion and drive to deliver and engage students in their studying of Science from Key stage 3 to A level. The outstanding behaviour of our students truly gives you the opportunity to teach your subject and deliver exciting and engaging lessons.
Avanti House is a secondary school 11-19 school that opened in 2012. Currently there are 780 students with a six form entry of 180 pupils. The school will eventually have a pupil number of approximately 1300 and is already over- subscribed in applications for the year 7 intake in 2018. Currently the school is located in Eastcote and shares a site with Pinner Free School. In the current spring term, the school will move to its new £25-million-pound building located in Stanmore at the Whitchurch site. Avanti schools are Hindu-designated faith schools. However, all staff members at Avanti House School will not be required to present themselves from any specific faith background and there will be no preference given in this regard. This is an exciting time to join the school as it continues its journey to outstanding.
Avanti House secured outstanding outcomes both in terms of attainment and progress when its first cohort of students sat their GCSE examinations in 2017. The school scored a progress 8 value of 0.57 which is well above the national average, with over 80% gaining Maths and English above Grade 5. The exceptional outcomes are based upon the continued development of teaching and learning which is at the core of all decisions that the school makes, enabling professional development to be of paramount importance developing all levels of staff.
