Teacher of Science/ STEM Lead Teacher
Salary- MPS/UPS and TLR 2b may be available to take a lead on STEM
We are currently looking for a motivated, qualified Teacher of Science to join us. The department is popular and improving, with many students choosing to continue their studies in science at Post-16.
The successful candidate will be able to teach all aspects of Science at KS3 and teach within their specialism at KS4 and ideally KS5. We are looking for someone who can encourage and enthuse students to achieve their full potential. We currently teach the AQA suite of science GCSE’s and welcome applicants who like to collaborate and share good practice and are willing to try something new.
For the right candidate there is the opportunity to develop STEM across the academy. The vision is for the Archbishop Sentamu Academy to achieve ‘Good’ within 12 months. To achieve this we need a committed individual who will build the reputation of Science and Technology, work within the academy to raise standards and then provide a sense of loyalty to the community. This post is ideal for an ambitious teacher looking for the next step.
We see this post as the pathway to middle leadership within the academy and would anticipate the successful applicant should aspire to become a member of the Senior Science Team after two years of joining us. This will be to develop other teachers and subjects, providing a sustainable model which we are confident can provide the opportunity for this academy to be judged as ‘Outstanding’ within three years.
In return we can offer:
• Excellent, state-of-the-art facilities and resources including suite of specialist science labs and an interactive science theatre
• An opportunity to join a school committed to major improvement
• A supportive environment with CPD opportunities
We welcome serious applications for this exciting and innovative position.
There will be an opportunity for informal visits to the Academy or time to discuss the post with the new Director of Science at a convenient time.
