Job overview

(2 posts)

We are looking for 2 enthusiastic and motivated teachers with a specialism of biology or physics to deliver outstanding science lessons at KS3 and KS4 level. We are looking for either NQTs or more experienced professionals, who are willing to join a hardworking and collaborative department which has a clear vision of excellence at all times.

Pakefield High School opened in 2011, achieving its first set of exam results in August 2015, setting new standards for the local area. We are delighted that our second set of results, with the percentages of students achieving A* - C in English and Mathematics even higher, show that our results are strong and improving whilst significantly narrowing gaps in achievement.

The school has a ‘Good’ rating from Ofsted (March 2013): “Teaching is typically ‘Good’, and an increasing amount is ‘Outstanding’. Strong relationships help to promote a very positive climate for learning. Students cooperate very well with teachers in lessons, and with one another.”

Our vision for excellence in education is very popular in our community and Pakefield is oversubscribed with waiting lists in every year group.

Pakefield High School has undergone an exciting transformation and the final phase of a £25 million building project is now complete providing us with brand new full-size, state of the art school.

In return for your enthusiasm, resilience and experience, we offer you the opportunity to make a real impact on a developing school community. You will work with a supportive governing body and staff team, with access to a personalised weekly CPD package.

We are not standing still; our new leadership team is challenging us all to create a dynamic culture of constant change and improvement. If you wish to share in this vision and are dedicated to driving standards up so that all students can achieve success then we want to hear from you.

Pakefield High School is a newly-opened secondary school located in the town of Lowestoft, Suffolk. First opened in 2011, the school was formed following a large reorganisation of schools in the local area, with Pakefield High School initially inheriting the buildings of a former middle school. Later, the school moved onto a brand new purpose-built site, with capacity for around 900 students aged 11-16, average-sized for a school of this type. The school is co-educational, and offers a small amount of off-site provision for pupils with specific educational needs.

Values and Vision

Pakefield High School works hard in order to fulfil its comprehensive ethos, achieving this by offering a wide-ranging and engaging curriculum, along with proper recognition of the needs of individual students. The school provides guidance for older pupils in Key Stage 4 as to the kinds of options they have available to them post-16, be it further education or employment. The personal development of pupils is also carefully considered, with their social and emotional intelligence, as well as work ethic, going hand-in-hand with academic achievement.

Ofsted

“Pupils are making good progress and achieving well because they are taught well and their attitudes to learning are good. They enjoy the well-developed practical tasks provided in most lessons to help them learn. Teaching assistants provide skilled support to individual and small groups of pupils, often those who have additional needs or are at risk of falling behind, to ensure they move forward in their learning.”
