Job overview

1 Year Fixed Term, Full or Part Time

St Joseph's College is a vibrant independent day and boarding school in Ipswich providing a broad and seamless education for over 550 girls and boys aged 3 - 18. We provide a wide range of stimulating and challenging opportunities that our pupils embrace in both the academic and extra-curricular life of the School.

The resultant all-round education develops our pupils into well-rounded individuals who challenge themselves to ‘be their best’ in every aspect of life at the school, and beyond. Our innovative teaching and subsequent success starts in the Prep School and runs all the way through the Senior School.

St Joseph’s College has a proud history of strong results within the Sciences and seeks to appoint an outstanding Teacher of Science from September 2017. Applications from all disciplines are welcome.

Science is taught as a combined subject at KS3 and then as separate subjects at GCSE and A-Level. Approximately 30% of the GCSE cohort follow the Tripe Science route at GCSE, with the rest following the Dual award. At A-Level all Sciences attract at least one set of students in both the Lower and Upper Sixth.

For September 2017, applications are invited for the position of Teacher of Science to contribute to the delivery of the subject at KS3, KS4 and KS5. We are seeking a dynamic and inspiring teacher to continue our strong provision within the subject. The ability to offer BTEC Science at Level 3 would be an advantage.

Further details and an application form may be found at www.stjos.co.uk or by contacting the HR Officer by email careers@stjos.co.uk or telephone (01473 690281).

The closing date for applications is 12 noon Thursday 20 April 2017 with interviews w/c Monday 24 April 2017.

St Joseph’s College is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. The successful applicant will be required to undertake child protection screening appropriate to the post, including an Enhanced Disclosure via the Disclosure and Barring Service. Please be advised that applications cannot be accepted unless they are on the College’s Application Form.  References will be taken up and will be carefully checked. DBS charge payable by applicant. We reserve the right to interview prior to the closing deadline, so early applications are encouraged.
