Cedarbank School is a small secondary school dedicated to supporting pupils with additional support needs. It is situated in the Ladywell district of Livingston and makes provision for pupils from all over West Lothian who have additional support needs. The school provides for up to 100 secondary age pupils who have Additional Learning and Autistic Needs. The school’s provides opportunities for everyone to achieve in a safe and nurturing environment. The School provides a broad education for young people from first year through to sixth year. The school offers a full curriculum.
The successful candidate will have the necessary experience and leadership skills to assist in taking forward the principles of Curriculum for Excellence in order to support the improvement agenda of the authority. Effective learning and teaching is the core business of all staff. It is, therefore, essential that all staff set high expectations to encourage young people to be all they can be in order that they achieve their full potential. This will allow them to leave school as effective contributors, successful learners, confident individuals, and responsible citizens. Pupil learning is key, and we encourage all to work effectively with partners and the community to ensure that that every pupil develops the skills they require for life, learning and work.
The school has its own well-equipped gym hall and Craft, Design & Technology, Music, Science and Home Economics rooms. All the classrooms are on the ground level and are accessible by wheelchair. A relevant teaching qualification and registration with the General Teaching Council for Scotland is essential.
This post is considered Regulated Work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scotland Act 2007. From 28 February 2011 preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer of employment being made by West Lothian Council.
