Job overview

We are seeking to appoint an excellent Science teacher to join one of the school’s largest and most successful departments. This is an exciting time to join President Kennedy School and the Futures Trust; an ambitious and innovative teacher will thrive in this environment and will be offered plentiful opportunity for further progression.

As a qualified Science teacher you will possess a passion for raising achievement in Science and an aptitude for overcoming barriers to learning. Dynamic and creative, you will be an excellent team player and able to inspire others around you. You will also have a proven track record of successful teaching of combined Science at GCSE and A Level Physics, Chemistry or Biology.

The Science Faculty is fully staffed and strong, capacity is being built via this appointment for further development alongside supporting the development of the Futures Trust. Results at GCSE in the last 3 years have improved dramatically and the department was in the top 5% nationally based on 2016 core GSCE results.

Science is hugely popular at President Kennedy School with a strong uptake of separate sciences every year alongside combined Science at GCSE, and large A-Level groups in Physics, Chemistry and Biology. The department also supports the delivery of alternative level 3 provision linked to the schools Health and Social Care Professional Pathway at P16.

Staff at President Kennedy School are supported by experienced senior teachers who commit generously of their time to train and develop colleagues. The school offers focussed CPD for all staff based on their future aspirations, and has a proven track record of developing excellent teachers and future leaders.

At President Kennedy School everything we do is focused on Building Brighter Futures for our students, our staff and our community. We are an outstanding school that has driven up its examination results year after year. The 2016 results put the school in the top 1% nationally for progress. In July 2013 the school was judged outstanding in all areas by Ofsted. The school is heavily over-subscribed and an entirely new school building is underway and due for completion in Easter 2017.

Visits to the school are welcome and encouraged, please get in touch if you would like to arrange this.

Closing date is midday on Sunday 4th December 2016.
