Job overview

We are seeking to appoint a Teacher of Science with the ability to teach Physics to join our team of dedicated, hard-working teaching staff. The Science department is hugely successful and is made up of a team of enthusiastic specialists, supported by two highly experienced technicians. Much of our cohort study the AQA Combined Science Trilogy specification, with at least one group of separate science students each academic year. We also have alternate provision in place for students who need it, by way of the entry level certificate qualification. The department is committed to ensuring that all students enjoy and succeed in Science and leave the school community with an appreciation for Science in the modern world. We are a cross-phase school, so we work closely with our primary staff to ensure that the delivery of science from EYFS to year 11 has both breadth and depth and allows both skills and knowledge to be developed, and our above average GCSE results show that this is happening very successfully.

As a teacher of science at Bradford Girls Grammar School you would be expected to teach in both the Key stage 3 and Key stage 4 phases and be confident in delivering all 3 subjects up to GCSE level. We pride ourselves on working well as a team and support is always there to ensure that our students get the best possible Science education. The department has access to a wide range of resources to support with this and collaboration is of a high importance. A willingness to be a reflective practitioner is very important, as Science is an ever evolving subject due to its relevance.

Our school motto is Aspire, Succeed, Lead. We are a hugely successful school, with a strong set of results. But our mission is to achieve much more than that, so that our students leave as future leaders – equipped to perform on national and international platforms in whatever career they choose in the future.

The school’s culture is firmly rooted in values, and these shape the way that we do things on a day to day basis. We recognise our accountability to our children and the impact we make on their futures; we are self-confident in what we do; and we are prepared to persevere in our determination to succeed. We are an organisation that truly cares about what we do and how we do it, and our actions are very much based on integrity, mutual respect, and empathy.

These posts are fixed term initially, as we review the need for this additional capacity moving forwards.

If you are interested in joining our team and being part of our exciting future, we look forward to hearing from you.
