We are seeking to appoint a motivated and ambitious Teacher of Science to join our popular and oversubscribed Academy. This is an exciting opportunity for an energetic and inspirational teacher who is passionate about teaching the subject of Science. Both experienced and Newly Qualified Teachers are encouraged to apply.
Science teachers at the Academy plan and teach a curriculum which is inspiring and challenging and includes creative ideas with lively enriching activities. We have a team that is supportive, proactive and dedicated to ensuring that every child at TGAW is able to flourish and grow.
All schemes of work are well resourced and shared in centralised electronic folders. These were highly commended by OFSTED. There is a shared commitment to delivering clear objectives in each half term for each year group.
A clear assessment calendar drives a focus on marking and feedback. The department maintains an extremely high frequency of marking and feedback and the quality of diagnostic marking and target setting has sustained outstanding progress for students over the past four years.
This department is a very hard working department, completely committed to excellence. This is a school where we are raising the profile of science in line with Progress 8 and students are enthusiastic about the lessons and practical activities we deliver. We offer a Science Club to KS3 pupils to enable them to explore science outside the constraints of the curriculum and we offer a STEM club to all pupils, including sixth form, who want to delve deeper into the key principles behind these subjects in real life contexts. We run a week of activities devoted to STEM during NSEW and offer many educational visits to support pupils with their learning. We offer an extensive revision and support programme for Year 11 and Sixth Form and are enjoying great successes in these areas.
We are proud of the fantastic progress since the Academy opened and are proud of the friendly and work focussed relationship that the Science staff engender with the students. We work collaboratively with all the schools within the Trust to share expertise and benefit from more robust and reliable assessment data.
