Job overview

(Full/Part Time by negotiation)

North Bromsgrove High School is rapidly improving with significant and sustained improvements in results over the last 3 years. Throughout its recent transformation, science has been one of the highest performing areas of the school with outcomes consistently well above national averages. The dynamic and committed team delivers a comprehensive range of subjects at Key Stage 4, including a substantial uptake in separate sciences. From September students will study all GCSEs from year 9, with science allocated 20% of the curriculum across the 3 years. There is also a strong A level offer in biology, chemistry and physics, which sit alongside and are well supported by strong A level maths, psychology and computer science provision.

Whilst there is scope within this role to teach any of the sciences, the faculty needs to increase its chemistry teaching capacity. There is also a potential for TLR responsibility within the school, with a current internal vacancy for Head of CCF. We wish to appoint a strong classroom teacher who has a passion for both their subject area and the craft of teaching, which supports the learning of children of all abilities and engages the sceptics as well as the natural scientists. An ability to teach at advanced level is essential. The school is progressive in its approach to both teaching and leadership, and support for your professional development is at the heart of our ethos. We are building strong partnerships with schools and universities and evidence based research will be at the core of our development as a learning organisation.

The school is an exciting, vibrant and friendly place, enjoying enviable facilities on a new campus. Our vision is to enable students to become confident, ambitious and enthusiastic, by reinforcing our values of honesty, independence and a commitment to achieve through hard work. We also have a strong and growing relationship with our local employment community. Every child is treated as an individual, prioritising academic excellence through continuous improvement. If you would like to be an important part of our exciting evolution, please come to see us. Applications from both experienced and newly qualified teachers are welcome. A good sense of humour is essential.

This school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The successful candidate will undertake an Enhanced Disclosure via the DBS, where appropriate.

Closing date for applications: Thursday 19 May 2016 at 12 noon.
Interviews to be held on: Wednesday 25 May 2016

Headteachers's Welcome.

North Bromsgrove is an exciting place in which to work and learn, and more recently, is one of the quickest schools nationally to have been removed from special measures.  Our recent Ofsted (May 2019) noted that our students ‘conduct themselves well in lessons and at unstructured times’, are ‘friendly and courteous’ and that ‘teachers are ambitious for students to achieve their best…’.

There is a shared moral imperative by all members of our school to deliver an inclusive education, within our state-of-the-art facilities, which ensures that ‘everyone succeeds’ and seeks to develop the ‘whole person’.

Our school motto ‘Studies Determine Character’ is lived out day to day by offering a tailored academic curriculum in conjunction with an enormous range of opportunities on offer beyond the classroom.  Our enrichment programme fosters endeavour and commitment which complement leadership, teamwork, trust and kindness.  The blend of academic and enrichment activities across the school ensures every student can grow and develop whatever their interests and talents.

We believe that ‘learning is transformative’ and being a successful school is about providing the best possible education – one that creates a love of learning and nurtures the talent and confidence of our students so that they are well equipped to go on to achieve their highest aspirations.

When you visit North Bromsgrove High School you will find a community of positive students supported by hardworking and committed staff. It is a happy school where our students aspire to excel in their studies and take part in our programme of extracurricular activities. There is a keen sense of commitment across our school community to continually review and reflect on what works well for our students and we are pioneering in our mission to offer an education which fully prepares our young people for the world of work and beyond.

North Bromsgrove High School is a place where you will find talented teachers who go the ‘extra mile’ and a dynamic school culture in which everyone can shine and develop as practitioners and leaders. Staff morale is high and we look forward to welcoming students and staff who can play an active and valuable part in developing our school and be part of the positive transformation taking place on our journey to providing an exceptional education.

The website can only provide you with a glimpse of our wonderful school and I would encourage you to take the time to come and visit us and see for yourself the good work taking place across our North family.
