Full time, one year fixed term renewable contract

The Convent of Jesus and Mary Language College is a happy and thriving all girls’ 11-18 Catholic school with a mixed 6th form in the heart of the exciting and culturally diverse London Borough of Brent. The Convent is graded in its Section 48 inspection as an Outstanding Catholic School and an Ofsted graded Good school. Our students benefit from a rich curriculum offer that emphasises the arts as well as academic achievement and we place faith and faith formation at the heart of the school. We are the one and only state funded school in the country to enter into the Steinway School Initiative and possess a full size concert grand piano which is used by our students and staff and recital artists. We are also a Catholic Research School supported by St Mary’s University, Twickenham and the school staff and students are involved with and leading on a number of important educational research projects.

We are seeking a qualified Teacher of SEN to join our successful department of Learning Support and to plan, deliver and assess programmes of learning to enhance the progress of students with SEN. The role encompasses working with small groups of students and to teach a small class of Year 7 students who struggle with learning focusing on catch-up in literacy, English and humanities subjects.

We are a Catholic school but staff are not required to be baptised Catholics. We are a community that welcomes all faiths and people of no faith. Further details and applications packs are available our website:  www.cjmlc.co.uk

Applications should be sent to the Headmistress: office@cjmlc.co.uk

Closing date: Monday 20 May 2019 at 5pm

Interviews planned for: Friday 23 May 2019

The Convent of Jesus and Mary Language College is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. About Saint Claudine's Catholic School for Girls

This truly remarkable school has been providing the highest quality of holistic education to girls for over a century. Its long history of Catholic tradition and founding on the values of St Claudine Thevenet ensure that every child is seen as special, unique and a gift from God. St Claudine’s life work was to care for, nurture and educate children. She established the Religious of Jesus and Mary houses and schools which has led to the current education of children in 28 different countries. Here in England there are just three Convent of Jesus and Mary schools; an independent college in Thornton and an infant and secondary girls’ school here, in Willesden.

St Claudine’s Catholic School for Girls provides places to more than 1,000 girls aged 11-18 and has its own sixth form.

Values and vision

Prayer is an essential part of the life of our school.  We pray together at the beginning and end of the day, in form times and assemblies, at the start of lessons and before exams. Everyone in our school community is invited to participate in our prayer and liturgy insofar as they are able. Students lead music, read scripture and prayers in assemblies and at Mass. We have a special affection for St. Claudine who founded the Religious of Jesus and Mary, and often ask her to pray for us using our school prayer.

Ofsted report

“A highly experienced headteacher leads a strong senior team who identify good practice in teaching and learning from a range of sources and implement it across the school… Positive attitudes to learning are a notable feature among students who arrive in class very well prepared for learning and ready to do their best.”
