Job overview

  Teacher of SEN Students

Broadlands Hall School is Good school with Outstanding features: a specialist, small school for boys aged 11 to 20. We are looking for an additional teacher to join the team, with a particular interest in students with special educational needs, including those with autistic spectrum disorder, attachment disorders and behavioural difficulties. Our school Values are a central part of everything we do. They help our students, who often join us with low attainment, make excellent progress. We are seeking a QTS member of staff to join our tight-knit, very supportive team.

Our ideal candidate will be enthusiastic, committed, flexible and have a love of teaching students with special educational needs. They will be keen to develop learning beyond the classroom walls.  Applicants will be able to inspire and motivate and will not mind students who are sometimes anxious and challenging.

Candidates may be either Primary or Secondary trained, as long as they feel able to confidently teach English and Maths at all levels (although your specialist subject is not important). While we only have a maximum of 20 students, the ability range is far ranging, from P-Scales to GCSE.

The school is fantastic: classrooms are very well appointed and sunny; resources are abundant; students participate in weekly community learning adventures; they also swim, go horse riding and the older students are offered a range of vocational experiences.

Visitors all comment on the joyful and welcoming atmosphere of the school. We offer a supportive leadership, on-going training and the opportunity to work with lovely students and colleagues in a dedicated and caring environment.

We are looking for a teacher interested in developing their career or an NQT seeking their first post. Previous experience of working in a special needs setting is not essential as we are looking for someone that is passionate about working with children and is willing to support our vision of developing confident and responsible young men.

Qualities that we are looking for are:

• Passion for teaching and  learning

· Team player

• Creativity and commitment

• Can-do, optimism

What we will offer:

• Dynamic and forward thinking senior leadership team committed to staff development

• Excellent, interested and dedicated Teaching Assistants  to support you

• Friendly, positive environment

• An environment that seeks continuous improvement

If you have an interest and would like to learn more please call and ask to speak to the Headteacher for an informal conversation. Visits to the school prior to formal interview are encouraged.

There is no closing date. Candidates will be interviewed as and when applications are received.
