Job overview

Teacher of Social Science (Sociology & Citizenship) | Noel-Baker Academy

Maternity Cover (at least one year)

Noel-Baker Academy is an aspiring school with highly supportive staff committed to providing the best education possible for our students. We are currently looking to appoint an enthusiastic, dynamic and suitably qualified teacher of Social Science. The successful candidate will teach both Sociology and Citizenship.

This position would suit someone who is keen to join a forward thinking team who truly put students first. The ideal candidate will have a passion for ensuring students show real progress at all levels and maximise their potential. You will benefit from excellent CPD, a strong induction program and an array of opportunities to expand on your existing skills set.

At Noel-Baker, we are determined to provide an engaging curriculum that both enthuses and enables students to pursue each subject to the full extent of their ability. As a school, we pride ourselves on being friendly and welcoming with a culture of collaboration and teamwork that creates a lively and stimulating working environment.

Noel-Baker converted to academy status as part of L.E.A.D Academy Trust on 1st February 2017.The school is now part of an Academy Trust, which was recently named by Ofsted's Chief Inspector, Sir Michael Wilshaw, as a "high performer" and was listed among the seven strong performing multi-academy trusts in the HMCI October commentary report; stating that it should be used as an example to others.

The new direction of the academy was further enforced by the school successfully appointing a new substantive Headteacher for September. This is an exciting and challenging time for Noel-Baker’s future development and the academy is on a journey of securing improvement and raising standards across all areas.

The school has also been extensively transformed through the ‘building schools for the future’ programme with a new £34 million school that completed in September 2012 offering state of the art teaching and learning facilities.

If you would like to be part of Noel-Baker’s exciting journey ahead then we will be delighted to hear from you.

School visits are welcome and encouraged.

At Noel-Baker Academy, everything we do is underpinned by our passionate belief that outstanding schooling is the right of every child and a determination that such a vision is achievable. We believe that our students are entitled to the same breadth and depth of provision as any student attending any of the best schools in the country.

This is a vision shared with the L.E.A.D. Academy Trust, of which we are a part. We are on a journey towards excellence and believe that with persistent effort, hard work and patience, amazing things can and will be achieved for and by our young people.

We believe in and aspire to provide an inclusive education for all. That is, high expectations of and for all pupils, an insistence on excellent behaviour, equal access to an academically rigorous curriculum taught by highly skilled subject specialists and a sharp focus on high-value enrichment opportunities that will enable all students to excel.

We will never accept that family background, socio-economic circumstances or prior attainment will inevitably limit young people’s potential, and so the profile of our intake will always be a reason for our provision and never an excuse for our outcomes.
