At least two years relevant teaching experience.
Able to teach to A level
Able to work well in a team setting.
Experience working in an international setting.
Ability to offer French tuition.
Appreciation of pastoral demands in an independent school setting
Ability to contribute to the ‘Leadership and Service’ programme.
Spanish is the main European language offered on the curriculum at Harrow, with class teaching from an early age (Year 3 and 4 in Pre-Prep for those pupils who are ready). With all pupils required to learn Mandarin Chinese up to Year 9, the addition of a third language can be a challenge. Some students are withdrawn from MFL lessons in order to allow time for additional English support.
We offer individual tuition in German and French for a small number of students by arrangement where these languages are near native. Another teacher is responsible for delivery of German.
There is currently no Head of Department but as the school grows in the coming years this is a position that has already been highlighted as essential for the continued success of this important curriculum area.
