Required from October 2017, to cover a colleague on maternity leave, an enthusiastic and well-qualified Teacher of Spanish to join our outstanding Languages Department. Ideally, the appointed candidate will be expected to teach Spanish at KS3, KS4 and in the Sixth Form. The ability to also offer German or French would be an advantage, but not essential.

56% of the Year 11 cohort chose to study Spanish last year. 72% achieved A*-C. At A level, 100% achieved A*-E, with 50% awarded A*-B grades. 63% of those talking an IB course achieved 5+.

The Anglo European School is a comprehensive school with a curriculum informed by a strong international dimension and with pupils who demonstrate outstanding personal development. All members of staff working at the school support the aims and international ethos of the school and participate in the extensive visits programme.

About Anglo European School

Anglo European School is a 11-19, co-educational comprehensive school situated in Ingatestone, Essex. It has approximately 1,415 students.

The school was opened in 1973 after the closure of a secondary modern school led locals to campaign to keep the school open and the Local Authority, Essex, decided to establish a school with a “European Dimension”.

Anglo European School serves local needs but also draw students from across Essex and parts of London. In 1977 it became the first UK state school to offer the International Baccalaureate Diploma and in 1995 the first comprehensive school to become a specialist Language college. In 2005 the school established the first co-headship model in a state secondary school.

As a centre of excellence for language learning, the school offers Chinese, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Russian and Spanish as well as English as an Additional Language and Latin.  Up until age 16 all students study two languages other than English.

In the sixth form, students must study one language. They have a choice of A-levels or an opportunity to study the International Baccalaureate Diploma. There is also the chance to study selected parts of the IB Diploma with A-levels. In addition, the International Baccalaureate Career Programme provides an internationally recognised vocational qualification.
