Job overview
We are seeking a full-time teacher of Spanish to IB Diploma level on a 12 month contract. An ability to also teach either German or French would be an advantage. This position is available as a result of a current member of staff taking a sabbatical year.
Spanish is a popular option at IGCSE and we run IB Diploma courses at both Standard and Higher level. The vast majority of students study one European Language from Year 7 through to Year 9. Either Spanish, French or German. We are currently developing our IBO Middle Years Programme that will run from Year 7 through to Year 9, which enables our learners to take an inquiry-based approach to language acquisition.
The successful applicant should be prepared to contribute to the continual development of this student-centered department and will also be expected to participate in and help lead an increasingly diverse languages co-curricular programme. This includes an annual immersion trip for Year 11 students, which may involve spending a week outside of Hong Kong focusing on developing communication skills as well as providing a culturally enriching experience.
We expect our teachers to be creative and innovative in their pedagogical approaches, and able to contribute to collaborative working practices so that we continue to provide rewarding learning experiences for all students.
Requirements
Bachelor Degree in Education, or
Bachelor Degree in any subjects with PGCE (Postgraduate Certificate of Education), or equivalent
1-3 years teaching experience within a recognised educational organisation is preferred. GCSE or IB experience an advantage.
