Teacher of Spanish (with French), part time (0.6) for summer term

Colfe's SchoolGreenwich

We are looking for an enthusiastic, capable and inspiring teacher to join the Modern Languages department part-time for the Summer term. The successful candidate should have a good degree in languages and teach French and Spanish to our Junior School pupil in Years 4, 5 and 6 plus a small number of Year 7 and Year 8 lessons in the Senior School.

The Modern Languages Department

In the Junior School pupils are taught French in Years 3, 4 and 5 and Spanish in Year 6. Lessons are playful and creative and aim at inspiring our younger learners to explore language learning and trigger their curiosity.

The Senior School Modern Languages Department currently consists of the Head of ML along with Heads of Spanish, French and German and a further six teachers. The department is fortunate to have the support of four French, German and Spanish Assistants (FLA) and is led and managed by a Head of Modern Languages. All staff are experienced and very well qualified and are pleased to contribute to the development of a high-quality learning environment within the department and to a varied range of extra-curricular activities. The Department is well equipped – all 7 language classrooms have interactive whiteboards, one classroom contains a suite of 12 computers and there is a dedicated study room for 1:1 tuition and lessons with the FLAs. The department has its own staff office and a separate resources room.

Languages are popular and the results of the department in all three main languages are consistently very good. All pupils study Spanish in Year 7 and take up a second language in Year 8. Both languages are studied in Year 9.

Teachers appointed to Colfe’s are expected to maintain the highest professional standards and to contribute to the extra-curricular life of the community. Those who join the School can expect to become part of a caring, purposeful and committed community.
