Job overview

The Sensory Support Service in Cornwall has children and young people with sensory impairment (hearing, vision and multi-sensory impairment) from 0-25 at the centre everything we do! We enjoy fantastic working relationships with families, schools and education settings along with other professional colleagues.  We are a peripatetic team and work in a wide range of specialist and mainstream settings across the county.

Due to the retirement of some of our long-term, experienced staff, there are exciting times ahead for us. If you are enthusiastic with a passion for working with children and young people with sensory impairment, we'd love to hear from you as we develop, grow and innovate!

The current opportunity available for September 2021; Two peripatetic Teachers of the Deaf (SEN allowance between £2270 and £4479 depending on qualification). One FTE will be based in the West of Cornwall and one 0.8 FTE will be based in the Mid area. This role is suitable for teachers who currently hold the Mandatory Qualification in Hearing Impairment. Suitably experienced teachers who wish to apply who do not hold the Mandatory Qualification will be expected to complete it (the course is funded by the Sensory Support Service). There is an expectation that the teacher will gain a qualification in at least level 3 in British Sign Language (funded by the Sensory Support Service).
