Classroom Teachers’ Payscale plus negotiable     Recruitment & Retention allowance for a suitable candidate

· Are you a qualified Teacher of the Deaf? Are you an experienced teacher with good communication skills?

· Do you have high expectations and are you committed to improving outcomes for students with hearing impairment?

· Do you have the skills required to support and develop a resourced provision for hearing impaired students as an integral part of a mainstream comprehensive school?

As part of our Deaf Support team, we are seeking a talented, imaginative, motivated and qualified Teacher of the Deaf who will support and develop our resourced provision for students with hearing impairment. The successful applicant will have experience and knowledge of how to raise the attainment of students with hearing impairment as well as experience of working in partnership with mainstream teachers.

Lister Community School has a long standing, well-staffed small resourced provision for students with hearing impairment.  The resourced provision specifically caters for the needs of students with hearing impairment as an integral part of the mainstream school.  It provides support from a range of specialist staff that ensures the needs of the pupils with hearing impairment are fully met within the daily life of the school. The culture and ethos of the school promotes the inclusion and achievement of students with hearing impairment. The resourced provision is staffed at present with 2 Teachers of the Deaf and Specialist Educational Communicators and has dedicated teaching spaces. We are expecting to expand in the next two years to accommodate increased numbers of students.  The provision is a Total Communication environment using oral methods, BSL, or signed support dependent on the needs of the students.
