We are looking for an excellent Teacher of Theology with a passion for education. The post will suit a well-qualified graduate, committed to delivering an exceptional learning experience for every pupil. Theology is a successful core subject at Woldingham; all students sit the GCSE examination and it is a popular choice at A Level. All students undertake a General RE course in the Sixth Form. The Department consists of a team of five highly committed theologians, philosophers and religious studies specialists who work with a focus on equipping students with a strong knowledge base, the ability to evaluate as wide a range of perspectives as possible, and who encourage independent thought and learning. There is a very strong collegial culture within the Department and the sharing of resources and ideas is the norm.
Our girls’ passion for this subject is strong and is evidenced in high levels of student engagement and enjoyment in lessons where they are challenged to expand their academic horizons. At Key Stage 3, students undertake a home-grown, academically rigorous and stimulating curriculum which lays the groundwork for sitting the Edexcel Specification A GCSE examination at the end of Year 11. A popular choice for A Level students, the OCR papers in the Philosophy of Religion, Religious Ethics and Developments in Christian Thought are studied. Year on year some students choose Theology or Philosophy or a closely-related subject to study at university. We have four dedicated classrooms, including a well-resourced Sixth Form subject library, and an office where members of the Department are based.
The ability to teach across all Key Stages and up to A Level is essential, combined with first-rate organisational, team working and ICT skills.
