Job overview

Teacher of Vocational

Health and Social Care and Child Development

Required September 2017

Salary: MPS / UPR

(an additional £2000 allowance for the first 12 months may be available to suitable candidates)

Carlton Bolling is a rapidly improving school, which has the highest expectations of its students and the ambition to be outstanding within the next few years.

It is a great place to work with staff surveys and extremely low staff turnover evidence of this, with the recent Ofsted report noting, “An impressive shift in the views of staff and parents about the college, which are overwhelmingly positive”.

Major factors behind this are:

  • Small Class Sizes: An average of 15 in English and Maths classes across all year groups, with 18 in Humanities and around 22 for all other subjects. This allows teachers to do the best job possible and also eases the burden of marking to allow a proper work-life balance.
  • Well Behaved Students: Teachers can do the job they came in to teaching to do – teach not control behaviour.
  • Reducing Unnecessary Meetings and Red Tape: We believe in completing a job rather than talking or writing about it.

The successful applicant will be joining a faculty that has:

  • Outstanding progress 8 scores at KS4 and outstanding Value Added at KS5. Both are among the top 10% in the country.
  • A fully developed and successful GCSE, A-level and BTEC curriculum across a range of subjects.
  • A hardworking Vocational team, who are enthusiastic, dedicated and who work closely together to support one another.
  • Specialist rooms all fitted with interactive whiteboards and a number of computer suites.
  • The successful candidate will need to be flexible as there may be a need to teach across subjects within the department including KS4 (years 9-11) and KS5 (years 12 and 13).

If you are hard-working, ambitious to be the best, and genuinely have the interests of students at heart, we would be delighted to hear from you.

For more information and to request an application pack please contact Lisa Reeder, HR Business Support or if you would like to visit the school please contact Mr Glenn Haigh, Head of Vocational faculty to arrange a convenient time.

Pupils and staff work together within a harmonious community, where they are fully supported”: Ofsted, November 2017. I am very proud to work alongside established teachers, leaders and staff with a proven track record in delivering high quality learning with excellent outcomes for students. We offer bespoke and regular CPD opportunities that are linked to career stage; this ensures our best teachers are given development opportunities for future leadership roles. Our ITT, NQT and Teach First development programmes are robust, fit for purpose and lead to a significant number of trainees securing permanent jobs with us. Fostering close links with families and the community are embedded in our ethos as we value their engagement and support. Our sports academy concept has successfully established the boxing and cricket academies, both are open to staff, students and the BD3 community.

We are proud to be the founding school in the Carlton Academy Trust and look forward to working with other schools on their journey to excellence. These are exciting times at Carlton Bolling and we sincerely hope you will decide to join us on our journey.
