Georgetown Primary School is situated in Dumfries Burgh and has a current school roll of 301. Georgetown is an inclusive school which strives to provide the best quality of education for life, with the needs of pupils at the centre of all we do.

Georgetown is a place where all are active, challenged and engaged in their learning and we wish to recruit an enthusiastic, full-time permanent teacher to join our team of committed professionals who provide a high standard of primary education in a friendly, relaxed, supportive and inclusive atmosphere.

The successful candidate will initially work with a P5 class helping to equip pupils with the skills to become successful, confident and responsible contributors to the world they live in. We are looking for someone who is interested in providing quality learning experiences and the best outcomes for their pupils.

This post forms part of Dumfries Learning Town schools and/or the bridge to deliver courses as part of the BGE and /or senior phase curriculum as appropriate to meet the needs of our learners (see attached documentation).

Applicants for teaching posts must be registered with the General Teaching Council for Scotland, Clerwood House, 96 Clermiston Road, Edinburgh, EH12 6UT in the appropriate sector.

This post is considered as Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. From 28 February 2011, preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update check prior to formal offer of employment being made by Dumfries and Galloway Council.

Applicants who have been resident outside the UK within the last 5 years, if offered a position, in addition to a Disclosure Scotland Check, will be required to provide a completed police record check from the police authority in the country or countries in which they were resident.

A significant relocation package of up to £5000 is available to the successful candidate.
