The Perse School Singapore offers a British curriculum for Key Stage 1 (age 5 to 7 years old), Key Stage 2 (age 7 to 11 years old). Currently, we have a year 7 class and will add a year 8 class in August 2023. There are plans to open a year 9 class and Key Stage 4 and 5. We are a growing two-form entry co-education school with 185 children on role between the ages of 5 and 12. There is a healthy balance between the development of outstanding academic achievements and the nurturing of character for each individual pupil.

The Role

We are looking for an experienced and passionate Mathematics teacher to join our team at Perse Singapore. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching Mathematics in Primary phase and will be expected to create a challenging, stimulating, and supportive learning environment that enables students to reach their full potential.

 

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be accountable to the Assistant Head in the following areas:

  • Design and deliver engaging and effective lessons that meet the needs of all students, regardless of their abilities or backgrounds
  • Plan and prepare lesson materials, assessments, and homework assignments that align with the school's curriculum and educational objectives
  • Develop and maintain a positive and respectful classroom culture that fosters a love of learning and encourages student participation and collaboration
  • Use a range of teaching strategies and resources to support student learning, including technology and interactive media
  • Ensuring inclusive learning for all including diversity and a clear understanding of the needs of all pupils, including those but not limited to those with EAL, special educational needs, individual need for stretch and challenge, and able to use and evaluate distinctive teaching approaches to engage and support them.
  • Monitor and assess student progress regularly, provide feedback to students and parents, and adjust teaching strategies and materials accordingly
  • Collaborate with colleagues and school leaders to develop and implement best practices in Mathematics teaching and learning
  • Attend and participate in professional development opportunities to stay up-to-date with the latest teaching methodologies, technologies, and trends in Mathematics education


Teaching and Learning

  • A bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Education, or a related field.
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching certification
  • Proven experience teaching Mathematics to Primary phase students as a whole class teacher.
  • Strong subject knowledge and a passion for Mathematics.
  • Demonstrated experience highlighting mathematics enrichment in a school community.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and school leaders to achieve common goals
  • Familiarity with current educational technologies and their applications in Maths teaching and learning.
  • Desirable experience in Singapore Mathematics strategies and curricular.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and lifelong learning.
  • Tracking, monitoring and feedback on learners progress is essential.
  • Use appropriate assessment tools for formative and summative assessments

 

Pastoral

All teachers at The Perse School are required to be a form tutor and contribute to the extra-curricular programme (Drama and/or Public Speaking). These requirements are fundamental to working at Perse Singapore. All teachers are required to make a proportionate contribution to the following:

  • the extra-curricular life of the school through Games, the Enrichment Programme or other appropriate commitment
  • form tutoring
  • the PSHEE or Emotional Wellbeing programme
