The positive impact you can have early on to a young person’s life is most likely the reason you got into Primary Education in the first place. Here, that impact will be greater than you could have imagined.

Part of Witherslack Group, we provide outstanding education for young people with a range of complex educational needs. Some may need emotional support to help them achieve their potential. Others may, for instance, function at an incredibly high level but have ADHD, social communication difficulties or autism, and struggle to maintain concentration. Each child’s set of needs requires a unique approach and our teachers are there to deliver that. Channelling individual capabilities into academic success is the goal, as part of a holistic and uniquely attentive educational strategy.

Areas of our large, picturesque school overlook Windsor Castle and the school building itself is breath-taking. Add to that the fact that we’ve installed amazing new learning spaces and have a great support team and it all equals a truly uplifting and inspiring teaching environment – one that is now welcoming new Primary Teachers into the fold, thanks to the popularity of our offering and increased pupil numbers.

The role

Your focus will be to make a real impact by guiding pupils, at this transformative age, toward a new path and helping to shape their behaviours for the better.

You will:

  • Support the emotional development of each and every child
  • Work closely with Clinical Services, the Pastoral Team, Teaching Assistants and the Senior Leadership Team to uncover root causes of each child’s particular challenges
  • Address those challenges strategically, collaboratively and holistically to enable each child to meet their full potential

Every classroom will have the latest equipment to ensure you are able to deliver engaging and impactful lessons. What’s more, because each class has a maximum of eight children (and a Teaching Assistant at your side), you can expect to be able to give the right amount of attention to each child and really work with them to achieve results.

The Person

An empathic, resilient and highly motivated Primary Teacher who got into the role for all the right reasons, you’ll be ready to face the challenges of a SEN environment. There for the long-term satisfaction that behavioural transformation brings, you’ll know that some days may not be as rewarding as others, but that it’s all a part of the journey toward transforming lives.

That’s because you’re a realist who knows that making a difference means maintaining an on-going dialogue with your peers and managers to keep developing the approach for each child - from training and support to annual reviews, you’ll have an input! What’s more, you’ll be fully aware of the standards Ofsted is looking out for and always keen to go above and beyond them – never anything less than engaged and engaging.

For a passionate Primary Teacher who knows that pupil journeys are on-going and not always easy, it’s an amazing next step in your career.

The rewards

The benefit of doing a role like this is it feels good and gives you a sense of hard-won achievement and progress. There are also some outstanding rewards – in fact, our salary and benefits package is one of the best in the sector.

It includes:

  • A highly competitive salary
  • Full school holidays
  • Teacher pension scheme or a range of flexible pension options to suit personal circumstances (where applicable)
  • A comprehensive, market-leading induction and on-going training
  • Extensive Group staff benefits, such as a Medicash Health Plan/Employee Assistance and Cycle to Work Scheme
  • Free lunches
  • Free DBS Enhanced checks for all new employees

We strongly believe that people should have choice and flexibility when it comes to saving for future. As such we offer membership of the Teachers Pensions Scheme if you are eligible to join the scheme. We also offer a flexible alternative option to the Teachers Pension Scheme that allows you to opt out and receive an allowance of 15% of your base salary and free life insurance. If you take this option you are also able to join our Scottish Widows Group Pension Scheme where your employee contributions are matched up to 5%.

The Witherslack Group is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of its young people. This post is subject to an enhanced DBS check. We are an equal opportunities employer, welcoming applications from all sections of the community.
