The DfE is keen to ensure that teacher development is recognised as the “golden thread” that runs throughout a teacher’s career in order to ensure all children receive the world class education they deserve.

What are Teaching School Hubs?

TSHs are centres of excellence that lead on the training and development of teachers throughout their careers.

TSHs play a significant role in delivering school-based initial teacher training. They also coordinate the early-career framework which came into effect in September 2021 as well as the reformed National Professional Qualifications for teachers and leaders. From September 2023, TSHs assume the role of the Appropriate Body for the statutory part of the Induction process for early career teachers. The hubs also offer a range of other professional development programmes.
