Position Information 

North Sydney Girls High is an established, fully academically selective school catering for over 900 highly gifted and talented students from a wide range of backgrounds, with 93% being of language backgrounds other than English. 

Achieving one's personal best and a growth mindset are key elements of the school's ethos leading to a supportive and inclusive learning environment. A concept-driven curriculum has been developed with a focus on varied and authentic assessment. Curriculum programs emphasise higher order critical and creative thinking and are complemented by extensive co-curricular sporting and cultural/civic programs. Students are highly motivated, aspirational, and deeply involved with their school community. Student voice initiatives encourage student advocacy and empower students to confidently lead and participate in a complex and dynamic world of rapid technological and social change. Our Science faculty offers Stage 6 Biology, Chemistry and Physics; Stage 5 STEM/Robotics and Engineering electives; as well as a range of extracurricular programs designed to support a whole school STEM narrative.

  
Specific Selection Criteria 

·       Approval to teach Chemistry (11-12) and Science (7-10). Approval and/or willingness to teach Biology.

·       Demonstrated capacity to deliver effective and challenging differentiated teaching and learning to meet the needs of highly gifted students.

·       Demonstrated ability to deliver innovative, evidenced based teaching and learning strategies that enhance levels of student engagement and integrating technology in effective classroom practice (ICT).

·       Strong interpersonal and communication skills to work in a collaborative faculty, supporting whole school initiatives and developing positive relationships with all members of the school community. 

  
Conditions 

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
