Position Information 

Queanbeyan High School is located on Ngunnawal and Ngambri lands in the highly desirable location on the NSW ACT border, serving approximately 600 students with a student Aboriginal Population of over 14% and 22% EaLD.

Our teaching staff are dedicated professionals, committed to the delivery of learning programs designed to cater for the diverse range of student learning needs of our comprehensive settings including specialist learning and support, extension courses, accelerated progression, VET courses, and 8 Support classes.

Our school is integral to our local community and enjoys strong working relationships with a wide range of community organisations. Our students, staff and the community work together to develop confident, socially aware and involved young adults who can make significant contributions to the broader community.

The school has breadth of curriculum catering for the needs of all students leading to a variety of post school destinations. Graduates are highly successful gaining preferred options in universities, further training, and skilled employment.  We self-fund an Aboriginal Learning Centre and enjoy strong and productive partnerships with a range of cultural and educational initiatives.

Our school community of “Respectful, Responsible, Learners” has been integral in providing input into the substantial refurbishment of the school and we now enjoy a large range of sporting, cultural and landscaped outdoor learning spaces that demonstrate a genuine respect for learning and community-based activities.

  
Specific Selection Criteria 
  • Approval to teach 7-10 Science and at least one Stage 6 Science course (Chemistry, Physics, Biology or Earth & Environmental Science)
  • Demonstrated ability to work as a contributing member of the faculty team to collaboratively develop teaching programs and resources which aim to improve student outcomes and performance across all stages.
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff and the wider community.
  
Conditions 

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
