About Wey Valley College (WVC)

Wey Valley College is a progressive, innovative short stay school, catering for the needs of students who have difficulty accessing a mainstream curriculum.

The College site is located in close proximity to the town of Guildford, surrounded by the beautiful Surrey countryside, yet accessible by road (A3) and rail.

We aim to provide high quality education for all our pupils. Pupils are offered a broad and balanced curriculum. Their attainment is assessed regularly, in order to monitor their progress in both curriculum and behaviour, and specific learning and behaviour targets are set. Pupils are encouraged to access the curriculum, to be independent and to learn strategies to control their own behaviour.

We have an excellent record of providing good CPD and have a proven record of supporting staff developing them from unqualified teachers through to the completion of their NQT year. We have supported many staff in their career progression either within the trust or with partner mainstream schools.

Wey Valley College has very good progress measures and all students make good progress academically and pastorally. At KS4 achievement is in line or above national data for PRUs. The percentage of students gaining 5 Grade 9-1 was 80% compared to 12.3% nationally, 1 grade 9-4 was 100% compared to 20.3% and 1 A*-G was 100% compared to 57.7% in 2020/21.

Our learning environment is good and whilst there are needs for improvements in certain areas, compared to PRUs nationally our accommodation and environment is well above average

We were last inspected by Ofsted in September 2018 and were judged as ‘Outstanding’ in all areas.
