Teaching ServiceSt Ives High School is a comprehensive coeducational high school with an enrolment of approximately 1200 students, with some 40% of these from non-English speaking backgrounds.
The school has a Hearing Support Unit; a high potential and gifted education program; and a BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) program operates across all year groups. The community has high expectations for student involvement and achievement.
There is currently one fulltime time permanent (1.0) position available. The successful candidate will be responsible for a teaching a caseload of students from diagnosis to Year 12 across the Forest/Gordon/Ryde network area. They must hold a current Driver's Licence and have an ability and willingness to travel between work sites.
Approval to teach Hearing Impairment (Itinerant) (primary and/or secondary) and a commitment to ongoing professional learning in the field of Deaf Education.
Commitment to develop and use sign language and/or augmentative communication systems.
Ability to develop, implement and evaluate quality, inclusive learning plans to meet the complex needs of deaf or hard of hearing students from age of diagnosis to Year 12 across varied educational settings.
Evidence of highly developed interpersonal skills, including demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with all stakeholders, to support students who are Deaf or hard of hearing from diverse backgrounds.
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
