Position Information 

Established in 1884, Nambucca Heads Public School is located on the Mid North Coast of NSW. We are a K-6 school with an enrolment of 205 students. Students come from a range of socio-economic backgrounds, with approximately 21% identifying as Aboriginal. We have 10 mainstream classes that are supported by a Principal, four Assistant Principals and more than 30 teaching, support and office staff. We have a proud culture and tradition of providing quality education to our local community. 

We offer a wide range of opportunities for children through sporting activities, creative arts and a dedicated focus on ensuring the wellbeing of our students is supported and nurtured. Our teachers work collaboratively to provide quality learning that is individualised and differentiated to meet the needs of all students. We are a Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) school with a focus on ensuring every person in our learning community feels welcomed, valued, included and heard. 

Nambucca Heads Public School has a valued place within the traditions and culture of the community and enjoys loyal community support. The school fosters close relationships with four partner pre-schools and the majority of our students continue their secondary education at Nambucca Heads High School.

Our Strategic Directions are targeted and focused on the specific areas identified as key priorities. Initiatives and activities that will contribute to overall growth in student success are being developed to target improvement in students' literacy and numeracy achievement, to foster continuous improvement in teacher expertise and enhance positive relationships and wellbeing.

  
Specific Selection Criteria 
  • Approval to teach special education and/or experience teaching special education for infants and primary (K-6) including students with autism, emotional disturbance, trauma, intellectual disabilities and behaviour difficulties
  • Demonstrated commitment to student wellbeing with the ability to plan and implement individual learning, behaviour and risk management plans with all stakeholders
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to positively contribute to our whole-school culture by working collaboratively with staff members, the learning & support team, students, families and external agencies
  • Demonstrated experience in implementing evidence-based behaviour management strategies to develop a positive learning environment that promotes high engagement and individualised success
  • Knowledge and demonstrated commitment to the NSW Aboriginal Education policies and experience in meeting the needs of students from diverse backgrounds
  
Conditions 

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
