Teaching ServiceGerringong Public School is located on the New South Wales South Coast and has students from both the town and rural setting. We have a current school enrolment of 421 students. Our school motto, 'We Will Achieve' underpins the school community's strong belief that each child will succeed and needs to be recognised for their individual achievements, celebrating success at both a school and personal level.
Our school community is actively invested in supporting the school in providing a well rounded education that supports the development of the whole child. The Itinerant Vision Impairment teacher positions is based at Gerringong Public School, however students are located up to a 200km drive south of Gerringong, both in primary and secondary settings.
Approval to teach Vision Impairment (primary and/or secondary) and Braille with experience teaching students with a vision impairment across all stages, in a variety of school settings.
Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills with the demonstrated ability to work proactively as part of a collaborative team including School Learning Support Officers, Parents/Carers, Teachers, External Agencies and the wider community.
The capacity to integrate assistive technologies to enhance and support the learning of students with a vision impairment.
Demonstrated ability to develop, implement and monitor learning and support plans that encompass the expanded core curriculum of students with a vision impairment.
The willingness to travel within 200km of Gerringong Public School and ability to work autonomously whilst being a productive member of the Gerringong Vision Support team.
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
