Position Information 

Canobolas Rural Technology High School are looking for an experienced Special Education Teacher to work in our Support Unit. The successful applicant will have experience in the Secondary setting, working with students with disability and a range of learning needs.

Canobolas Rural Technology High School is a comprehensive school located in Orange with an enrolment of 623 students, including 45% Aboriginal students. The Family Occupation and Employment Index (FOEI) is 157.

The school provides core academic subjects in all stages of learning along with a broad range of elective courses which are proven to engage students positively in their learning. A strong student wellbeing structure exists within the school and this is managed by a committed Learning and Support Team. The school has nine support classes across multiple classifications with students working towards mainstream and life skills outcomes.  

Staff are working to enhance links with both TAFE and Charles Sturt University, and is supported by industry in the delivery of a range of accredited vocational education and training programs. The school has a strong transition program with the local primary schools and strives to further develop productive partnerships with our parents and the wider community.

Specific Selection Criteria 
  1. Approval to teach special education and/or experience teaching students with Mild Intellectual Disability (Secondary), Moderate Intellectual Disability (Secondary), Behaviour Difficulties and Emotional Disturbance (Secondary), Autism, and/or other complex learning needs.
     
  2. Demonstrated ability to plan and implement individualised teaching and learning programs to support improvement in learning and wellbeing outcomes for all learners.
  1. Highly developed communication, interpersonal and organisational skills with the capacity to work collaboratively and build positive relationships with students, families, colleagues and key stakeholders in the context of the school community.
     
  2. Demonstrated ability to use data and evidence to develop, implement and evaluate quality individual education plans for students with complex learning and behavioural needs.
     
  3.  Demonstrated commitment to improving the educational outcomes of Aboriginal students with disability through knowledge, understanding and implementation of the department’s Aboriginal education policies and the Inclusive Education for Students with Disability policy in their daily practice.
  
Conditions 

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
