Teaching ServiceGulyangarri Public School opened at the beginning of 2024. It is located adjacent to Liverpool Boys and Liverpool Girls High Schools in the Liverpool CBD. The school’s name comes from Darug language and translates to children in English. The word gulyangarri highlights the importance of children being at the centre of all that we do.
The school is being delivered in two stages, with the first stage catering for 580 students including four support classes and preschool for up to 40 children.
The school is designed to support high quality teaching and learning for students from diverse cultural, linguistic and socio-economic backgrounds. An emphasis on explicit teaching and strong character development will lay the foundation for student success. Partnerships with schools, TAFE, universities and the broader community will enrich learning for students and staff.
The support classes cater for students with autism, mild to moderate intellectual disability and/or multicategory needs. The successful applicant will join the existing team with the opening of the third and fourth classes this year.
- Approval to teach special education and/or experience in teaching students with disabilities including behaviour disorders, mild and moderate intellectual disabilities and autism.
- Demonstrated ability to differentiate the curriculum and implement individualised learning programs through personalised learning and support plans that improve outcomes for all students.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with all stakeholders to build a culture of inclusivity.
- Demonstrated ability to develop a positive and well-managed learning environment, through the implementation of evidence-based strategies.
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
