Job overview

Teach Music to Jersey’s Children

On an island of 45 square miles, we can offer an environment that is personal. An environment where our children, young people and teachers blossom and where our locations are as different as the challenges. From rural to town environments, our schools serve a variety of cultures, languages and backgrounds.

Jersey Music Service works in partnership with schools in the island to increase access to quality music making and to raise the standard of music education by providing high quality creative and inspiring musical experiences across a wide range of musical genres.

JMS is part of the Government of Jersey’s Children, Young People, Education and Skills Department.

Successful applicants will either have several years' experience in classroom music teaching and an instrumental specialism or experience teaching as an instrumental specialist and be able to teach their family of instruments. A degree or graduate diploma in music is essential, in addition to Qualified Teacher Status or a Certificate for Music educator’s qualification with a willingness to undertake training to achieve Qualified teacher status whilst in post.

As an inclusive employer we will create opportunities for flexible working to attract and retain talent which reflects the diversity of the communities we serve. We welcome applications for working flexible hours, part-time working and job sharing.

We would love the opportunity to tell you about life on our island, teaching our children and how we can develop your career. We can share with you our wonderful island life, and how teaching music in our schools may be the perfect fit for you.
