About the Job

We are looking for a creative, inspirational, and dedicated Teacher who is passionate about the teaching and learning, and pastoral care of a class group and the delivery of the school’s curriculum.

Day-to-day, your role will include…

  • Planning and teaching well-structured lessons to meet individual learning needs, using the appropriated strategies to demonstrate and monitor student progression.
  • Ensuring that students achieve in relation to their prior attainment, and make good progress, comparative to their personal needs.
  • Being responsible for the line management of the staff team working with the class group.
  • Offer creative ways to inspire the trust and confidence of students.
  • Support learners to take responsibility for their behaviour by setting expectations and educating on boundaries.

About You

The perfect candidate for this opportunity will be creative, inspirational and be able to demonstrate their specialist knowledge in delivering quality-driven sessions to students, in a specialist SEN school.

  • Hold QTS, or equivalent qualification.
  • Possess specialist knowledge of autism, epilepsy, and SLD.
  • Are passionate about supporting vulnerable students and striving for the best possible outcomes for them.
  • Are creative with new ideas to stimulate students.
  • Can be adaptable to changing priorities and working flexibly.
  • Can demonstrate good initiative to deal with challenging situations.
  • Are an engaging communicator, both verbally and in writing, to multiple people.
  • Demonstrate how you can bring teams together and instil and great work ethic.

St Piers School sits in the Education Directorate of Young Epilepsy, the leading national charity working exclusively to improve the lives of children and young people with epilepsy and associated conditions.

We are a non-maintained residential special school for 5–19-year-olds, and we are an innovative and creative School for children with SEND, and a large percentage of our cohort have Epilepsy, autism, and severe learning difficulties, along with communication difficulties.
