Job overview

St Joseph's Roman Catholic Primary School works in partnership with St Mary's University in Twickenham to provide School Direct teacher training opportunities. 

During 2017-18, St Joseph's will be the lead school in partnership with other local Catholic primary schools. We will have 5 primary teacher training posts available and these will be on the School Direct (Salaried) route leading to Qualified Teacher Status (QTS). 

St Joseph’s is an ‘Outstanding’ school (Ofsted 2013) and recently entered a Federation partnership with St Mary’s Catholic Primary School in Kilburn to lead them from ‘Special Measures’ to ‘Good’ (Ofsted 2016) in an eight month period.

Trainee teachers will benefit from the high quality CPD and training package which is available to all staff across the Federation.

Applications are invited from graduates, or those graduating this year, with a minimum 2:1 degree in a subject relevant to primary education.

About Saint Joseph RC Primary School

St Joseph’s Roman Catholic Primary School is a mixed Roman Catholic voluntary aided school for children aged 3-11 in Brent, London. It has around 490 pupils, 90% of which are from ethnic minorities.  

St Joseph’s Roman Catholic Primary School has excellent links with its parish church, The Shrine of Our Lady of Willesden, with the parish priest making weekly visits to the school as part of its pastoral programme.   During the Early Years Foundation Stage, there is a strong emphasis on learning through play, both child initiated and planned play.
