We are looking to appoint a well-qualified, proactive and enthusiastic teacher to join our experienced and specialist team to lead Physical Education and Development of Healthy Lifestyles throughout school.

The successful candidate will be an excellent practitioner and will teach in a topic based approach, where there is a strong focus on phonics, communication, language and vocabulary, and English and Maths.

They will be responsible for their own Learning Group and actively support students’ social, emotional and academic developments embedded within the 24-hour curriculum. They will have drive and understand the need to plan personalised pathways that meet the individual needs of students both academically, socially and therapeutic trauma informed.

An integral part of the role is to take lead responsibility for providing leadership and management for Physical Education and the Development and Healthy Lifestyles to secure high quality teaching that improves learning and achievement for all.

The successful candidate will be flexible and adaptable in their approach to ensure they tailor children’s learning pathways to achieve the best possible outcomes for all students. Show flexibility, as it’s important to be able to respond to the needs of the children and adapt or change plans accordingly. You will need to be able to organise learning outside the class rooms through learning opportunities, community visits, school outings or other events. Demonstrate the ability to build good relationships based on trust with children and their families/ carers. Be highly skilled in behavioural management, with the ability to manage confrontation and challenging behaviour. Team working skills to liaise with staff and other professionals is key.

• Be an outstanding practitioner who provides stimulating learning opportunities within a rich and diverse curriculum 

• Have a positive attitude and mind-set, embracing the positive physical and mental health and well-being ethos. This includes role modelling self-care and reflection.

• Have an understanding of Adverse Childhood Experiences and trauma enforced practice.

• Be flexible and adaptable in their approach to ensure they tailor children’s learning pathways to achieve best possible outcomes for all students.

• Be able to organise learning outside the classroom through a breadth of opportunities, community visits, school outings and other events.

• Demonstrate the ability to build good relationships based on trust with children and their families/carers, and other professional.

• Be highly skilled in positive behavioural support, and have the ability to manage challenging behaviour.

• Play an integral part of our key working structure which is embedded within our quality of life values and ethos.

• To liaise and work in partnership with Occupational Therapy

• Show excellent commitment to work with children with special educational needs

• Be skilled in the ability to deliver within our Primary model covering PSHE, Careers, RSE, Modern Britain and topic-based learning

• Be able to plan, deliver and assess outstanding teaching and learning using proven methods and approaches that enable SEMH students to learn 

• Be able to teach numeracy and literacy basic skills 

• Have a proven record in supporting students to be successful in gaining qualifications that are realistic, yet aspirational for individuals. 

• Use data analysis to inform teaching and learning and whole school improvement

• Be a creative and reflective teacher who inspires confidence in meeting the needs of our students

• Be highly motivated and able to contribute to collaborative working across the school

• Be able to lead and manage staff who work with a group of students in a team around the child approach

• Take an active role in organising special curriculum events

• Need experience of writing high quality long and medium-term curriculum plans, and cross-curricular maps. 

• Have the ability to develop positive and sustainable relationships with students

• Demonstrate resilience, motivation and commitment

• Be able to encourage all students to be actively engaged in their own learning and develop independence

• Attend statutory annual reviews and review education, health and care (EHC) plans

• Keep up to date with changes in the curriculum and developments in best practice

• Have a positive attitude and mind-set, embracing the positive physical and mental health and wellbeing ethos. This includes role modelling self-care and reflection as part of our wider curriculum

• Have the ability to promote and celebrate diversity, collaboration, and equality in the school at all times
