Job overview

Sybil Elgar School (Primary school in Southall) is looking for Teaching and Learning Assistants to actively support the people we work with to experience life opportunities which promote maximising potential and fulfilling their dreams.

Help make an Everyday Breakthrough happen by joining our team.

A breakthrough can seem like the smallest thing, but it can make the world of difference to someone on the autism spectrum. By becoming a Teaching and Learning Assistant at The National Autistic Society you’ll help make Everyday Breakthroughs happen more often.

We are looking for Teaching and Learning Assistants at the 6th Form/FE Campus (16-22) of Sybil Elgar School based in Woodlands, Acton and Primary School in Southall. You’ll be working with autistic children in a school environment.

Awarded Ofsted Outstanding in January 2018, Sybil Elgar School offers educational support for children and young people on the autism spectrum between the ages of 4-22. We strive to provide the most suitable support required by our students to assist them with their learning and educational needs, across our sites in both Southall and Acton. Working with children and young adults with special educational needs comes with its challenges, and our valued staff join us knowing that to have made a positive impact on a young person’s learning development is priceless.

Being a Teaching and Learning Assistant takes bravery, patience and commitment. But working with autistic people gives so much more in return.

If you have any specific questions about the role, get in touch with Monika Chmura at monika.chmura@nas.org.uk
