Are you seeking to learn new skills in a supportive and vibrant environment? High Halstow Primary Academy is looking for an enthusiastic and caring individual to join their vibrant team. 

We are looking for a Teaching Assistant (1:1) to join us, starting in the new academic year. The successful candidate will need to have relevant experience in working with primary-aged children, a proven high standard of both spoken and written English, the ability to communicate effectively with children and adults is essential, together with a friendly and approachable manner. The successful candidate will be able to work using their own initiative and demonstrate effective behaviour management skills. In return, you will join a supportive environment with plenty of development opportunities within the academy and across the wider Trust.

Responsibilities of the role will include:

  • 1-1 support of a pupil across the curriculum
  • Occasional wider classroom support
  • Regular feedback with the wider team
  • Preparing resources
  • Lunch and playtime duty

This is a fixed-term contract linked to a student with special educational needs, offering an actual salary of £17,367 per annum (£23,114 full time equivalent) based on 32.5 hours per week, Term Time + 1 week inset.

Working with our academy: High Halstow Primary Academy is a one form entry village primary school with just over 200 pupils. It is ideally situated on the Hoo Peninsula with fantastic views and quiet surroundings as well as close links to the M2 and Medway Tunnel. The school merged with Leigh Academies Trust in January 2019 which provides outstanding opportunities for staff to work collaboratively as well as high-quality professional development.

The academy is fortunate to have fantastic indoor and outdoor environments where staff have vast opportunities to engage the pupils in their learning. Last summer, the wooden trim trail, fire pit area and outdoor classroom were added. The library has also recently been invested in to make it an inviting place to read for pleasure.
