The SABDEN Multi Academy Trust, based across East Sussex, is an aspirational and supportive Trust, aiming to create a warm, caring, stable, supportive environment in which all staff and pupils feel safe. We are three special schools, a secure unit, a large countywide alternative provision, a vocational free school and one of five teaching schools within East Sussex. We strive to discover success through learning, self-belief and achievement.  Pupils are empowered to take responsibility through a personalised curriculum supported by secure systems.

Lansdowne Secure Children’s Home, is a ‘Good’ secure children’s unit and is an extremely successful provision within East Sussex local authority and as part of the SABDEN Multi Academy Trust. We offer an opportunity to work in a holistic setting with extremely vulnerable young people. The school team is experienced, supportive and committed to delivering the highest quality learning experience for these learners.

Lansdowne School, The home, is undergoing an expansion programme and we have a great opportunity for a Teaching Assistant 2-3, depending on experience and qualifications, to work closely and support our children and young people with complex learning and emotional needs, across a range of subjects.

The school is seeking applications from enthusiastic candidates, able to work collaboratively within the small school team, to motivate and support the education of young people, as well as liaising with home staff to meet social and emotional needs. You will be resilient and resourceful, able to remain calm in sometimes challenging situations; you will enjoy working in a structured environment with learning and enjoyment at the heart of all that we do.

This role will also have the responsibility of coordinating our Thrive practice, within the school setting. The ideal candidate will hold a Thrive qualification and have experience of working with young people, but this isn’t essential, and your willingness to develop your knowledge and skills will be supported through comprehensive induction and training programme.

Lansdowne School offers you the support of a strong and dynamic staff team, and a commitment to ensuring your professional development allowing you to continue to learn and develop expertise in your new role.
