Would you like to be a part of and supporting an exciting new resource for young people with autism?  Cuckmere House School is an 'Outstanding' school who is developing a satellite provision (Tower House) for up to sixteen students with autism.  We are looking for a Teaching Assistant 3 to join us at this exciting phase and help shape the vision and support we offer.

The main responsibility of the post will be to support teachers in the delivery of the curriculum, both by directly working with pupils (1-2-1 with targeted individuals and in small groups) and assisting in preparation of resources. The ideal candidate will be empathetic in their interactions with students, and able to act as a positive role model and mentor to both students and other members of staff in the department.

Other qualities required will include being able to work collaboratively as part of a team and build good relationships with students and colleagues, both at Tower House and the wider school community at Cuckmere House.  Our young people have social, emotional and mental health needs and therefore resilience and a good sense of humour are also beneficial.

Ideally, you will have a have experience of working with young people who have complex needs, including autism and social, emotional and mental health needs.  A recognised Teaching Assistant or Childcare qualification to Level 2/3 would also be beneficial. A willingness to develop knowledge and skills through comprehensive training opportunities is essential.

If successful, you will become part of a very committed and hardworking team. While some experience of working with vulnerable young people is preferable it is not essential.  We will provide you with high quality training and support.
