The Workplace is a brand new, aspirational and innovative Alternative Provision Free School in East Sussex for pupils in years 9 to 11, which will be opening in September 2020. The Workplace provide education that is industry-driven, rigorous in quality, based on partnerships and focussed on enterprise. It will offer pupils a strong basis of Maths, English, Science and IT alongside quality provision in one of six vocational areas (Hairdressing & Barbering, Hospitality & Catering, Construction, Automotive, Sports & Fitness and Arts & Creativity).

Pupils who access The Workplace will be identified as at being at risk of disengagement and exclusion from their commissioning school. We have high expectations of pupils via Workplace standards, to suitably prepare them for post-16 and the wider world of work. Staff will work with employers across industry to ensure that classroom practice replicates the world of work and ensure pupils develop relevant skills and knowledge.

The Role: Teaching Assistant 3 - Mentor, to directly support and monitor the progress of a caseload of up to 12 pupils during vocational and core provision. Required to start from September 2020.

You Are: A resilient, hardworking individual with experience of working with young people. You will have the ability to remain calm and support students in a variety of environments including classrooms and workshops. You will be comfortable working in small or larger teams and will be able to role model acceptable behaviours effectively to young people. You will be passionate about supporting every pupil to reach their full potential. You will be able to demonstrate an interest in the wider school curriculum, including vocational learning and will have a commitment to undertaking training in safeguarding and effective behaviour management.
