The SABDEN Multi Academy Trust, based across East Sussex, is an aspirational and supportive Trust, aiming to create a warm, caring, stable, supportive environment in which all staff and pupils feel safe. We are three special schools, a secure unit, a large countywide alternative provision, a vocational free school and one of five teaching schools within East Sussex. We strive to discover success through learning, self-belief and achievement.  Pupils are empowered to take responsibility through a personalised curriculum supported by secure systems.

Cuckmere House School, based in Seaford, is part of the SABDEN Multi Academy Trust.  It is a pioneering SEN Specialist (SEMH) School. The last four Ofsted reports have been judged to be ‘Outstanding’ in every category and the school is a nationally recognised service which caters for SEMH pupils and one of Ofsted’s designated ‘Particularly Successful' Schools.

The successful applicant will be responsible for the delivery of the Flexible Learning Provision (FLP) Outreach programme. The FLP provision caters for pupils who are at risk of exclusion, or who have been excluded from their mainstream school. Most pupils are dual registered for a fixed period; this enables us to support pupils and their mainstream school to address issues that have previously interrupted learning.

We are seeking to appoint a highly skilled, effective and enthusiastic Outreach worker to join our FLP and wider primary team.  The main responsibilities of the post will be:

• to assist in the planning and implementation of support programmes for dual registered pupils within mainstream schools and Cuckmere House FLP

• to provide advice, guidance and support to mainstream colleagues in primary school settings

• to support FLP and CHS pupils in their transition/reintegration into mainstream schools and other settings

Applicants should be excellent communicators, who are innovative and enthusiastic. They should have a solid understanding of educational development and the factors that can hinder this, as well as a good knowledge of child protection procedures.

The successful candidate will demonstrate a calm, sensitive and empathic approach to working with children, whilst having the ability to robustly advocate young people transitioning to mainstream schools and other settings.

The successful candidate will be joining a Trust and school that continues to be ambitious in its drive to improve outcomes for our pupils. You will join a highly dedicated and professional staff team and be part of a supportive working and learning environment, where your professional development is highly valued.

We strongly encourage you to visit our school and if you would like to see us prior to submitting an application please contact Fiona Shields, School Secretary, to arrange a visit.  Alternatively, if you wish to have an informal discussion with Martin Waite, Deputy Headteacher, this can also be arranged.  Please contact us on 01323 893319 or by email on office.ch@sabden.org.uk .
