Broadlands Academy is an 11-16 learning community and proud to be part of Academies Enterprise Trust family of schools. We are an inclusive and caring school and work closely with students, their families and staff to provide a personalised curriculum which removes barriers to learning and enables all students to achieve their potential. We are currently looking for four Apprentice Teaching Assistants to join our experienced and highly regarded SEND team.
Duties will include: (see attached for job description for a more detailed list of duties)
- Supporting students in class under the supervision of the teacher
- Preparing learning materials for 1:1 or small group work
- Encouraging students to be confident and independent
- Supporting students to understand instructions
- Carrying out a student’s EHC (Education, Health and Care Plan)
- Encouraging students to communicate effectively with others
- Supporting students during social activities and trips
- Keeping accurate records and monitoring progress
- Good level of IT skills
- Good attention to detail
- Ability to work flexibly within a team and motivate students
- Being able to use own initiative
- Reliability, motivation and resilience under pressure
You will complete either a Level 2 or level 3 BTEC Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning. The work experience gained on the job will support this. Your Assessor will assess you in the workplace approximately every 4 weeks. In between these meetings you will have dedicated time away from your job to work on the apprenticeship and collate evidence for your apprenticeship e-portfolio with ongoing support from your Manager and Assessor.

To be eligible for the Apprenticeship, applicants must have resided in the UK or EEA for 3 years prior to the start of the Apprenticeship. Please note: applicants must not have already completed a Level 2/3 Supporting Teaching and Learning within the classroom apprenticeship (depending on the level you are applying for).
This will be a fixed term contract for 15-24 months (depending on the Level of apprenticeship).
