Job overview

An incredibly successful secondary academy on the outskirts of Dartford has a great opportunity for a confident and empathetic Teaching Assistant (Apprentice) to join their support team as soon as possible. Our appointed candidate will join Longfield Academy, receiving fantastic training and development opportunities from the off-set with scope to positively influence our students’ learning.

The role of a Teaching Assistant involves working with students across Years 7 to 13 in a variety of subject areas, either on a 1-1 basis or in small groups. Some students may have Special Educational Needs that you can support them with (training is offered in this remit), whilst others may need extra assistance from someone with a passion for the subject to push them even further. Previous experience in supporting students with ASD is desirable for this role. The students you will be working with are by no means behind in the subject, but need extra encouragement and support to ensure they understand each topic and to enhance their confidence within the subject.

Hear from a current Teaching Assistant of ours: "Being a TA is a very rewarding role within a school environment, every day you feel like you have made a difference and achieved. The role can be challenging but very rewarding. We help pupils cope and integrate into a mainstream school, and prepare them for the next steps in life."

The basis of the role is fixed term for the duration of the apprenticeship (18 months approximately), 31 hours per week, Term Time + 1 week. Our successful candidates will work towards a nationally-recognised Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification, delivered by LAT Apprenticeships. Click here to read more about LAT Apprenticeships.
