Can you inspire our students and provide them with the support they require? Do you have a passion for working with students with SEN? We have a great opportunity for a knowledgeable and efficient individual to join us in the role of Teaching Assistant (Apprentice) at the Leigh Academy Rainham. The overarching purpose of the role is to work with pupils who have learning difficulties usually with a statement of Special Educational Needs. 

Successful candidates will work 1:1 with selected pupils who may have a range of needs including Dyslexia, ADHD, ASD and physical disabilities and also support small groups both in mainstream classes and inclusion workspace, helping to prepare specialist material for them which will involve small group interventions. They will also be asked to support pupils at the end of the Academy day in Homework Club and may be required to run therapy sessions as part of students EHCPs, including dog mentoring sessions. They should be relatively confident using IT as will be provided a Chromebook to support students, access up to date information on individual students, log rewards and consequences and communicate with staff. You will have the opportunity to be part of a team that is truly changing lives and positively transforming the local community. The basis of the role is fixed term for the duration of the apprenticeship (12-18 month approximately), 35 hours per week, Term Time + 1 week. Our successful candidates will work towards a nationally-recognised Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification, delivered by LAT Apprenticeships. Click here to read more about LAT Apprenticeships.

Apprenticeship Summary

Working weeks: Monday - Friday during Term Time +1 week

Total hours per week (on average): 35 hours per week (including the 20% training element of the Apprenticeship Programme) 

Apprenticeship duration: 12 - 18 months

Programme delivery type: All modules are delivered as a combination of online learning which can be completed at your place of work, classroom sessions and contrasting work placements in schools

Essential entry qualifications: GCSEs A* - C, Maths and English

Future prospects: This apprenticeship could be the start of a very promising career within the wider teaching support remit. Your employer will endeavour to offer further employment following successful performance and completion of the Level 3 course with future opportunities to extend your training with a higher level apprenticeship programme.
